I completed an MD-PhD at the University of Illinois where I studied Wnt signaling and the application of genome editing tools in embryonic stem cells. I also helped found and direct the UI Genome Editing Core Facility with my PhD mentor Brad Merrill. I arrived at UCSF in 2017 for residency training in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and have been working with the Marson lab since then toward clinical translation of their genome editing approaches. I am now joining the lab full-time to continue this exciting work before transitioning to a Cell Therapy/Transfusion Medicine fellowship in 2020. My broad interests are in the development and application of genome editing tools for cell and gene therapies.
